Book Blurb:
“Trust only those who earn it.”
A sentiment I follow without direction but holds more consequence than ever before.
One decision, five lives, three futures.
This is what’s at stake.
One night, one choice, four broken Brayshaws.
That is where we’re headed.
Unless I stop it.
I have to stop it.
I have to remind him of what he’s chosen to forget.
My town. My choice. My ending.

As we've become used to, Trouble at Brayshaw High ended with a massive cliffhanger (though no where near as big of a cliffhanger as how Boys of Brayshaw ended, amiright??), but luckily for us, the finale of Raven and Maddoc's story has already been published. Yay! Book 2 ended with us finally discovering why Raven is so important to resolving the Brayshaw-Graven feud, and boy, is it a doozy!
Raven has undergone an amazing transformation where she has learned how to love and how to rely on someone, 3 someones to be exact, other than herself, but breaking the habit of self-sacrifice takes a lot more work. "I'd fall in an instant if it meant you guys stood strong." Captain reminds her "We can't be strong without you, not anymore. You fall or leave, turn your back on us, we're seconds behind." Raven learns that she holds the key to ending the feud and while Raven is ready to fulfill her obligations and sacrifice herself to protect the people she loves, there is crucial information she isn't aware of. In the middle of a council meeting with the five families where Raven is willing to agree to archaic terms, The Boys come in and offer an unexpected alternate that, while fulfilling the requirements, Raven is initially unwilling to agree to. Ultimately, she agrees to this because it's the lesser of the evils. What she wasn't expecting is the effect her decision has on hers and Maddoc's relationship.
A solution that was supposed to solve all their problems, starts to break everyone down. This turn of events was the hardest for me to read; I felt their pain like it was my own. "I know your entire fucking world is shattering, but so is mine. Shit, so is all of ours." Ugh! So heart-wrenching. Although Maddoc agreed to the only acceptable alternate choice at the time, we watch him fall apart as he realizes, he is not OK with their choice. Soon, another decision Raven made comes to light and pushes Maddoc over the edge.
Just when we think things can't get any worse, we get the biggest surprise of them all on Raven's 18th birthday. Those of you that have read the book, know exactly what I'm talking about! I thought I had been on the edge of my seat to that point, but now I'm hanging on by a thread. This the final straw that makes Raven mad and gives her the push she needs to wear her crown and take her revenge. With Victoria, Bass and a few other friendly faces on her side, she starts to show the town who is in charge. As she goes about this, more and more pieces to the puzzle come together and we start to see the big picture.
Once we get all the puzzle pieces - wow, just wow! Everything came together so beautifully for the most perfect ending to RaeRae and Madman's trilogy. I'm a sucker for series where we are able to continue following the characters we've fallen in love with after "the end" of their story. I'm so excited to dive into Captain and VicVee in Be My Brayshaw. Stay tuned for that review soon. If you haven't started this series, what are you waiting for?
