When I tell you this duet as a whole is a must read... I'm not exaggerating. I was completely captivated and spellbound by this gorgeous, painful love story. C.R. Jane and Ivy Fox weaved complete magic. You know when you get to the part of the story when the title makes sense and you get so excited? I know it's not just me! Well, in Breathe You, both titles make sense. LOVE!! I legit cried. Many, many times throughout this book, honestly. I was a bit scared to read this story. I knew it wouldn't be an easy one. But please trust C.R. and Ivy with your hearts. I did. I don't regret it. Your hearts just may need this story as much as I did. Flat out ugly cried. Chest shaking, sobbing. I am in love with Valentina, Quaid, Logan and Carter's love story.

 

Breathe You starts up right where Breathe Me left us. The guys all left Valentina after things hit the fan in Breathe Me. We start with Carter. After a bit of heavy thinking and weighing the pros and cons, he  decides to return to Valentina. When he finds her he is horrified at the state he finds her in. She is in a very dark place. It scares Carter so bad he calls for reinforcements: Logan and Quaid. It leads the men to decide to finish out the trip with their girl.

In this book we get more scenes from the past as the timeline again jumps between the present and the past. I loved this aspect of the book. After an intense scene in the present it would leave off and add to the suspense by switching to the past at the next chapter. And vice versa. I was so anxious to get to the next part! The first part of the duet laid a lot of the foundation showing the build up of their friendships and the beginnings of the relationships. Breathe You finished placing all of the puzzle pieces into their rightful spot. 

In the past: each individual relationship Valentina had with her men continues to grow and blossom. The chemistry between Valentina and Logan, Valentina and Quaid, and finally Valentina and Carter was just so hot and explosive. The scenes were steamy! Be ready for them! In the present: the scenes were just a steamy. Some unexpected conflicts pop up in the past. The conflicts made it easier for me to see why the boys began to have doubts about their relationship. 

Meanwhile, in the present, Valentina struggles even harder to hide her progressing illness and symptoms from the men. Their travels continue, and their relationships are slowly being rebuilt. But there's such a dark undertone. My heart raced for quite a bit of Breathe You. I just needed to know what was coming next. Carter, Quaid, and Logan know something is wrong, but they're mostly afraid to push too hard and question Valentina.

Previously, I thought I knew what happened to cause everything to fall apart and send Valentina running. I barely had a clue. I was on the edge of my seat (not literally, but figuratively as really I was in bed) the whole time. Just when Valentina thought she would get her greatest wish... Boom! Disaster. Cue more ugly crying. I was WRECKED! I still can't think to hard about these scenes because I will need more tissues. They're able to comfort each other during this storm like nobody else in their lives ever could. 

Each and every scene in this entire duet is overflowing with emotions. Everything comes to a standstill when Valentina has a crisis of sorts. She can no longer hide her illness. Valentina comes clean. WRECKED!!! The wreckage this scene caused made the other wreckage that was me pale in comparison. Which I totally did not think was possible. AT ALL. I was so devastated for them all. I was afraid to keep reading, but I just had to. 

I was so torn. I needed to know what came next, but I didn't want it to end. Of course we all know the saying, "all good things must come to an end." C.R. Jane and Ivy Fox wrote pure magic. Even the epilogue, pulled tears out of my soul. As I wrote earlier, please trust them with your heart. I did. I don't regret it at all. My heart was broken and mended so many times throughout the Breathe Me Duet. Valentina, Carter, Quaid, and Logan have such a powerful and meaningful story that needs to be told. It needs to be experienced and shared. I would love to know your thoughts!
