Hurt Me by C.G. Blaine - "The not-my-type Beck who ended up being the all-my-heart Beck."

Hurt Me by C.G. Blaine

Book Blurb:

After Eden Monroe’s ex dumps her, she decides not to cancel the romantic getaway they booked, wanting to waste his money like he wasted two years of her life. She never expects to go, but when he gets engaged to someone else, she packs her bags and boards the plane in need of an escape.

Except she’s not the only one.

Becker Donovan needs to lie low for a while. The farther away from his life, the better. So, after catching wind of an abandoned week at a luxury resort in paradise, he decides to claim it as his own. All he has to do is convince everyone he’s a rich douche for a few days. Easy enough.

Until the princess from the airport shows up to find out he conned his way into her hotel suite.

He should leave, but then Eden’s brother offers him a reason to stay.

Five days. Ten thousand dollars. All Beck has to do is keep the guys away from Eden.

Only when she needs him to play boyfriend, the guy who ends up with his hands all over her is him. It’s all pretend between them until it’s not. They fall hard and fast—completely.

But the problem with finding each other when taking a break from the real world is they eventually have to return to it. And once reality crashes back in, Eden and Beck realize they don’t exactly live in the same one. Not even close.

Hurt Me was my first book by C.G. Blaine and WOW! What a great story. Eden Monroe takes off on a previously planned trip after learning her ex is now engaged. It was set to be a romantic getaway for two when their relationship suddenly fell apart. Becker Donovan needs to lay low due to some circumstances at home. His cousin tells him to take this unclaimed trip and hide out for a while. Little did his cousin know, Eden took the trip on her own. Eden and Beck cross paths a few times before ultimately coming face to face at the resort.

Eden's brother offers Beck ten thousand dollars to stay with Eden and make sure guys stay away from her. Of course, Eden feels some type of way about this. These two are polar opposites. Their interactions and banter were so much fun to read. Life at the resort is a bit complicated for these two as they clash constantly. In their clashes, you can see heat beginning to build. As the blurb says: once they fall, they fall hard and fast. Their chemistry was fiery, and explosive.

Eventually, their time at the resort comes to an end. I kept wondering what would happen when Eden and Beck returned home. I wanted to know where their story went. I was very impressed with how the storyline progressed. Eden and Beck must figure out how they fit in each other's lives, and what that means going forward. Eden comes from an influential family, and has money. Beck is a mechanic from the other side of town, and works hard for every penny he has.

One thing I truly enjoyed, was this story didn't follow a predictable path. Each new aspect of their story kept me entertained, and drew me in deeper. I was wholeheartedly invested in Eden and Beck. I wanted their happily-ever-after so bad. Another 5 star read added to my READ shelf. Also, I'm a sucker for cover models who match the characters. And Beck matches the cover. Enough said.
