Sicko by Amo Jones - "Time hasn't just aged us. It tore us apart too."

 Sicko by Amo Jones

Book Blurb:
He was my foster brother.
He swore to protect me.
He failed.
They all failed.
I’m an open box of passé photographs, snapped in chaste daylight, but filtered in sepia. I’m the past that he tried to forget, and he was the future I needed. When he left four years ago, I screamed for him every night. But then it all stopped. My screams were suddenly muffled by cruelty, and further coaxed by pain.
But he has come back. He’s not the cute big brother I had a furtive crush on, or the bad boy, rich brat that I hated to love.
He’s the ruthless vice president of Wolf Pack MC, and he doesn’t answer to Royce Kane anymore.
He answers to Sicko.

Because we both loved this book so much, we decided we would each review it and post our thoughts! Keep on reading to see what we both thought of Sicko!

Jesy's Review:
I won an ARC of Sicko from Sarah Grim Sentz on Amo's Wolf Pack FaceBook Group. Amo Jones is a literary genius. My jaw dropped and I can’t pick it back up! I saw a teaser for Sicko months ago and it struck me so deep I knew I just had to read it. I’ve wanted to pick up an Amo book for a while now, but I was so stuck on Sicko I knew I needed it first. I was fixated. And for good reason!

Good lord. This book. Right away I was hooked by Royce and Jade. They immediately embedded themselves into my heart and I was invested in their story. Just when I got comfortable with the intro and the characters BOOM. Curveball.

Things changed in such an unexpected way. Jade and Royce are no longer together. I was so devastated. I wanted to see where their story would go, but like in life things didn’t go how we would’ve wished.

Jump forward four years. Jade and Royce are unexpectedly reunited. Nothing is the same. Both of them have change drastically. Royce is no longer the smirking teenage older brother. Now he’s Sicko, the VP of Wolf Pack MC. Jade isn’t the innocent little sister he left behind. She’s fiery, sassy, and my hero.

Jade and Royce’s reunion leads us on one of the most twisted journeys I’ve experienced. I have to say I did figure out one mystery early on, but I was still VERY much surprised by practically everything else that happened. This story was so unique. Dark, dirty, sexy, mysterious, tense, painful. Beautiful. I need some time to recover after this one. But not too long because I have some Amo books to binge! I am hooked.

Rissa's Review:
I’m a huge fan of Amo Jones and have been impatiently waiting for this book to release and was THRILLED to be part of the ARC team! When it arrived in my kindle, I immediately abandoned what I was reading (luckily I was only 5% in, but who am I kidding, I probably would’ve done the same if I was 50% in because Amo) and dove right in.

I love it when books draw me in from the first chapter and this was no exception. Royce and Jade were two of my favorite characters that I’ve read in a long time. And we can’t forget Wicked. He needs his own book, like now. This book is definitely taboo and super dark, as you would expect with any book by Amo, but not as dark as I was expecting. There’s a mystery interwoven into the story that leaves you anxious to get to the bottom of. I must say that I did guess the plot twist, but it didn't detract from the story at all. Plus I was happy to be able to yell "I knew it!!" when I found out I was right.

Royce and Jade’s love burned so bright from such a young age that despite 4 years of pain, when they reunite they’re drawn back to each other like magnets. With a demand to call him Sicko, it’s apparent immediately to Jade that Royce isn’t the same person he left her as. Four years apart changed them both. Despite Jade’s anger and hurt, she can’t resist Sicko’s demands and is brought into the folds of the Wolf Pack MC. Finding an unexpected sense of family, she finds herself feeling more at home there than she has in a long time.

The steam in this book could start a fire! Just wow. I won’t spoil anything for you, but be prepared for the unexpected. Or maybe it’s expected, because Amo... Yeah, we’ll go with that.

As you can tell, I loved this book just as much as I’ve loved all the other books I’ve read by Amo Jones. Her books are automatic one-clicks or pre-orders for me.
