What We May Be is a gripping standalone romantic mystery, featuring a literary whodunit and three former flames finding their way back to friendship, love, and happily ever after together.
REVIEW
I saw this in a live from Nyla K, the Queen, very recently and I happen to wholeheartedly agree with this thought about MMF romances: each person in the trio should feel necessary to complete the whole. I hadn't really thought much about it, but now I realize the MMFs I've enjoyed the most are when each individual feels 100% necessary and vital to the trio as a whole. And this truly was the case with Sean, Charlie, and Trevor in What We May Be. Split into duos they were okay; existing, but not thriving. All together they were so much stronger. And more importantly: WHOLE.
This book starts off where Sean returns after leaving Trevor and Charlie 10 years ago. Despite his absence you can see their connection smolder as they're brought together to solve a murder mystery plaguing the town. Their love and attraction was so powerful. You can see they just don't function properly unless they're all together. I loved the dynamic between these three. The men are very affectionate with each other, but also with Charlie. And I was absolutely obsessed with the fact that Charlie wasn't portrayed as a weak woman who needed protection. She was strong and powerful in her own right. Charlie was their equal. Which was fabulous!
Being completely frank and honest I have to admit I was a tad disappointed in the steam factor of this book. I wanted so much more from their scenes, but looking back I can objectively say the mystery and their journey back to each other as a throuple was more important to the storyline than their chemistry in the bedroom. They definitely sizzle together, but I was still underwhelmed.
Overall, I am glad to say this story lead me on an unexpected journey. The mystery kept me entertained. I thought I knew where the journey was taking me, but I definitely did not.
