Wanting You Close by Kennedy Fox
Archer & Everleigh duet, #2
Ex-Con Duet Series
BOOK BLURB
I never imagined my new roommate would be the man I’d actually fall for. Though I don’t get close to the people I sleep with, he’s been my exception. Archer acts emotionally unavailable while he focuses on starting over, but our connection is too strong to ignore.
He’s rugged on the outside and sweet on the inside—the opposite of my usual type. I see the way his eyes gaze up and down my body, making it harder to keep my feelings in check. Knocking down his walls is no easy task, especially with my brother interfering, but I refuse to give up.
When lines are crossed and emotions bubble over, trouble finds us. We both have pasts that have leaked into our present—now I’m scared it’ll destroy the one secret we’ve been keeping.

REVIEW
Archer and Everleigh's duet continues pretty much right where we left off when Forcing You Away ends. There's still some mystery involved in who hurt Everleigh and who is after Archer but admittedly not much. I wanted a bit more mystery in this book, but I know the story was wrapping up so I wasn't too disappointed. More clues are given and the reader is able to figure out who is responsible for the threatening texts and other nefarious misdeeds. The mystery from this point is moreso focused on how that person will be stopped.
Overall, I liked this duet as a whole and each book individually. I truly enjoyed Archer and Everleigh's relationship dynamic throughout the entirety of their duet. My favorite thing was the lack of a stereotypical "misunderstanding" that a lot of romances include. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy those storylines also, but sometimes they can seem overdone or just too "easy" I guess. This book does not have that. Their conflict all stems from outside forces and I loved that aspect of their book.
Everleigh's character is such a spitifre and it was highly entertaining to watch Archer learn to fight back with some fire of his own. It was adorable when she'd surprise him by some of the filthy things that popped out of her mouth. But Archer can hold his own, and these two sure generated some heat. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 just like book 1. I definitely enjoyed both books, but I wasn't as obsessed with them as I wanted to be. With that being said: I still plan to add this duet to my signed paperback collection of the Lawton Ridge Duet Series which already includes books 1-4.
