Trouble at Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy - "You're calculated, she's reckless."

Trouble at Brayshaw High

Book Blurb:
“You don’t belong.”

No words whispered in anger have ever rung more true.

They’re the Kings of Brayshaw with the world at their feet, destined for greatness and in need of control.
I’m the girl from the ghetto with nothing to offer and as defiant as they come.

They say it doesn’t matter, that I’m one of them now, and nothing could ever change that. Not even me, should I dare try.

But they’re wrong.
They underestimate how far I’ll go to protect them.

Trouble is coming...and they have no idea.

This. Book. Holy cow! Be warned - this is not a standalone and MUST be read after reading book #1. In Trouble at Brayshaw High, we see the same characters we met and fell in love with in Boys of Brayshaw High and get to delve a bit deeper into the mystery of the Brayshaw-Graven power struggle.

We pick up right where we left off in BOBH with Raven yet again taking matters into her own hands, much to the frustration of Maddoc, Captain and Royce. Her decision to protect The Boys from an unknown to them threat drives a wedge between them that is exacerbated by Collins Graven appearing at their school and Raven being at his side. Unfortunately for Raven's spur of the moment (as if we would expect anything else from our impulsive heroine) plans, The Boys got used to Rae being a part of their group and refuse to accept her leaving them so suddenly.

Early on in her charade, Rae realizes that playing the required part is a lot more difficult than she anticipated and starts acting out in ways that show The Boys things aren't what they seem. Once they see through her charade, it's just a matter of time until they figure out what's going on and step in to save her from her unnecessary self-sacrifice.

Little by little, Rae stops relying only on herself and learns that she can trust The Boys and what she feels for them. Once Raven realizes that loving and being in love doesn't make her weak, she becomes a force to be reckoned with. Towards the end of the book, we learn key information that starts to unravel the mystery behind the Graven-Brayshaw power struggle and what's been happening behind the scenes.

This book ends with a huge cliffhanger - as if you'd expect anything less. Luckily, I didn't have to wait for book 3 to be published and was able to jump right in and figure out what happens next. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book trying to figure out what exactly is going on and how everything is linked and was not disappointed. Check out my next post to see how it all ends!
