Rock Star, Confined by S.M. Shade - "Maybe falling in love is always set to music."

Rock Star, Confined by S.M. Shade

Book Blurb:

He’s a musician on his way to the top. She’s a woman scraping herself from rock bottom. An unbelievable year brings a love that changes everything.

Opening for Tragic, one of the most famous bands in the world, catapulted me from mediocre anonymity into the limelight. The leap from struggling musician to successful rock star happened quickly.

Just as suddenly as my career began, it slammed to a halt, stopped by a word uttered worldwide.

Pandemic.

With my tour postponed, it looked like my year wasn’t going to be a promising one, until I ended up quarantined with Geneva Rowe. Sexy, funny, and a frustrating mystery, Geneva made the days fly by.

Now if only I could convince this stubborn woman we could have more than a temporary isolation fling.

I discovered S.M. Shade when I stumbled across the Tragic Duet. I first met Patrick Thorn in that duet when he became friends with Naomi, the heroine in Rock Star, Interrupted and Rock Star, Unbroken. I knew I needed to read Patrick’s story, but I admit I was hesitant to read a book about the pandemic we’re all in the midst of. I love to read books that allow me to escape. But I also crave realism and relatability. Rock Star, Confined had it all. I’m so glad I gave this book a chance.

Rock Star, Confined starts off with Geneva arriving to a short term rental house and settling in. She rented the house weeks before for 6 months so she could focus and write a book. We don’t know what the book is about, but we learn a little later on it’s her story. She wants to tell her side, and let the world see things from her perspective. It’s obviously not going to be pretty based on the glimpses of Genna's thoughts.

Patrick arrives at the same house with a rental agreement of his own. After some back and forth Geneva offers to allow him to stay. The days slowly begin to slip by. Each day brings more insight into how they feel about the pandemic. The fear and the anxiety. The worry for friends, family, and themselves. These scenes hit so hard. I remember these feelings because they’re still so fresh in my own mind. It still resonates, because we still don't know what the future holds. Their days begin to fly by faster. Also relatable. It was just March. How the hell is it September?? Anyway.. They build a friendship that eventually turns into more. Genna and Patrick had some off the charts hot chemistry.

After months of quarantining together they end up parting ways. This decision is not mutual. Genna decides to let Patrick go and it has something to do with her story. At this point we still don't know what secret lies in her past. Fast forward months down the line. The world is slowly reawakening after the pandemic. Life has started to regain some sense of what it used to be. Things are different in this post-pandemic world, but seem to be going well. I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect. I wonder what will be the same and what will be different for us?

Genna and Patrick cross paths in a chance encounter. Genna’s story has finally been revealed in the form of her book. It devastates Patrick, but explains so much. I was not ready. I gained a new appreciation for Genna after I learned her story. This woman is strong. Regardless of her story, Patrick loves her, and won’t stop until she knows just how unconditional his love is. Will Genna allow Patrick back into her life?

Patrick also has something dark lurking in his past. It all comes to a climax, but luckily they get through this as well. I wasn’t ready for their stories. So unique which I truly enjoyed. Geneva and Patrick found a special place in my heart. These two were hot, funny, sweet, understanding, compassionate, strong, and resilient. I would recommend this book! Another rockstar romance completed.
