TORN APART
By Nikki Ash & K Webster
Release Date: October 20

 BLURB

I’ve spent the past three years in college terrorizing the dean, also known as my father.

I’m everything he hates.

Troublemaker.

Slacker.

Gay.

But I’m only getting started.

I’m about to make Dad really proud with my newest life choices…

I fall for my best friend, Mia, who’s a freaking chick.

I’m dying to make out with my enemy, dude bro Brayden.

And best of all, I want to bone my new roomie, Drew, who happens to also be the school’s new hockey coach.

Senior year’s great.

I’m still the world’s worst human.

I’ve made all the wrong decisions, and when Dad gets wind of my newest mess, he might actually disown me this time.

But I can’t stop.

I don’t want to stop.

In typical Ashton Carter fashion, I wreck my life in the worst possible way.

It isn’t until it’s all torn apart, I realize I have a problem.

Me.

REVIEW

When I saw the sign ups open for this duet, I knew I needed to apply because I could sense the angst from a mile away. After reading the blurb you have an idea of what to expect, but when you actually sit down to read it you realize it’s so much more.

I dove right into Book 1 of the duet the same day I received it and got through 70% of the book in one sitting. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had to get up early the next morning for work, I absolutely would’ve finished it in one sitting. It’s that good.

Ashton and Mia are best friends and inseparable. Not only are they neighbors and both college students, they also share a love of video games and sweets. Somewhere along the way, the lines of their friendship got a little blurred. Which is disconcerting for Ashton since he’s gay and has never been attracted to a woman before. Add in friends turned enemies Brayden, a hot dude bro hockey player, & Drew, an ex-NHL player and the new hockey team coach, and everything gets a lot more confusing. Forced into close proximity by their affiliation to the Ice Hawks, childhood friend turned enemies Drew & Brayden are forced to call a truce to their war so the team doesn’t suffer. I don’t want to go into too much detail because I don’t want to spoil the story for you, but the confusion, the struggles, the hurt and anger they all experience is so well-written it makes you feel like you’re experiencing it all with them. As tensions rise and lines blur, Torn Apart ends in a ruthless cliffhanger that has you on the edge of your seat. Luckily Bound Together, Book 2 in the Torn & Bound Duet, is scheduled to release November 17th. I don’t know about you, but I’m counting down the days.

Labels. Gay. Straight. Bisexual. Why do we continuously attempt to label everything and make sure it fits into a socially acceptable box? This question was the running theme of Torn Apart and I loved the underlying message. Reading is my favorite hobby because it transports you to another place and this one did that with the added bonus of having a deeper message and making you think.
