Book Blurb
There is no rest for the wicked. And I have to confess, I have indeed been wicked.
I have one job. Protect the team by keeping Interpol Agent, Nyla Kincaid, off our backs and out of our hair by any means necessary. In the chess game of revenge, the queen reigns supreme. And unfortunately for me, she's ready to topple the king.
She know what we did. What we stole. Who we burned. And she won’t stop until she unearths all of our secrets.
I might be a member of the Elite, but I’m done being a gentleman. If Nyla won’t stop, she’ll force me to play my hand.
I’m just as ruthless as she is, but unlike her, I don’t believe in rules.
My name is East Hale, and these are my confessions.
Review
I’ll start off by saying this was my first Nana Malone book. It took me a while to get into it, because it felt like some of the events and information should have been known to me already. I looked back and noticed most of East’s friends have their own books. So although this is a new series it's a continuation in a well established world created by Nana Malone.
Nyla is an Interpol Agent. She's a strong, take-no-prisoners character. She knows what she wants and goes after it. She’s smart and determined. If she suspects anything untoward she’ll stop at nothing to get to the bottom of it. Her sights are set on East and his friends. East's character was so intriguing. He's this rich-guy, but he's also a computer nerd. He is patient, yet persistent. It takes quite a while for East to break through Nyla's walls. When she finally lets her guard down their chemistry explodes. I really enjoyed their dynamic throughout the book. Their push and pull started to evolve into more when the story takes a turn and changes things once again.
East End is a trilogy so Nyla and East's story won't be complete until book 3. Nana has laid the framework for this trilogy. Some of the puzzle pieces have begun falling into place. There are still a lot of unknowns which is to be expected. Although I enjoyed East End, I feel like I struggled to connect to the characters. I didn't feel as much depth as I would have liked. I'm not sure if this is because I felt like I would have "known them better" if I had read the other books. Regardless, I am looking forward to East Bound which is due to come out in February. I won't be satisfied until I see how everything plays out for Nyla and East.
