Book Blurb:
He had everything. Until he had nothing. Then he turned.
Jessica Childs has just been promoted to the job of her dreams. Jessica Childs should be the happiest woman in the square mile. But Jessica Childs has the boss from hell.
Zac Morecambe-Cheney is the CEO of Skilld, famed for being an old-moneyed, sexy bachelor with charismatic charm, devastating looks and self-made millions. But that was then. That was before his heart and ego were smashed to bits. That was before he turned bad.
While Jessica fights to keep the once-promising business from going under, she can’t help but fall heavily for the man who is trying to sabotage it all. Until he does the unthinkable.
Faced with the reality of losing the true love of his life, Zac has to change his ways. But is it too late?
Jessica Childs is hired on as VP Marketing to help refresh the advertising for Zac's company. He’s in a bad place after a breakup a few years back devastated him. Due to the break up, and some other contributing factors, he is mentally a wreck. He lashes out, refuses to change, and is drowning his pain in substances. It doesn't take long for the reader to find out he had a very difficult childhood that included mental abuse.
Zac's whole attitude has negatively effected his business and the entire company as a whole. Some conflicts within his family must be confronted on a day to day basis, and it's not helping his mental state. He doesn’t realize the horrible spiral he’s in. Jess also had no idea of the issues when she agreed to the position. Jess and Zac's chemistry was instant although things progressed at a sizzle. Eventually that chemistry started exploding in bursts here and there.
As the end of the book neared, I kept wondering how would they resolve their issues and get their HEA? There was so much to work through, and January James managed to work through a TON of plot without rushing things along. Zac and Jess got their very well deserved happily-ever-after.
Jess is finally in a position where she feels valued. Zac has overcome so many demons. His character growth was astounding. Since this series contains interlinked stories it would be nice to see if Zac and Jess are mentioned in the next books. It would be cool to see an update on their lives.
He Turned was an enjoyable rollercoaster of a read. The amount of emotion thrown into some of these lines just about shredded my heart. These two managed to hurt each other so bad. Misunderstandings galore, but also standard run of the mill heartbreak. I love when an author writes in such a way the character's emotions resonate on a deep level. It’s almost like I feel it in my soul.
