REVIEW
Noah and Katie’s story intrigued me ever since I read Keeping You Away and Needing you close. This duet features Noah’s sister, Gemma, and her man Tyler. Noah and Katie are best friends that were attracted to each other, but were both unaware of the other's attraction. Everyone else knew but them.Noah’s cousin Gabe moves to town and starts dating Katie. Their relationship progresses and eventually they get married and are expecting a baby. An accident leads to Gabe's death, and unfortunately Noah is imprisoned for involuntary manslaughter. Noah pushes Katie away for ten years due to his inability to face his guilt over killing Katie’s husband and leaving their child fatherless.
Once Noah is released, Katie is absolutely furious with Noah. She refuses to give him the time of day. She’s in the process of making a better life for her and her son and doesn’t want to hear his excuses. Slowly but surely Noah works his way closer to Katie and their friendship is being rebuilt. Until it gradually turns into more. The slow burn with their chemistry was real.
Suspense, drama, humor, love, and extra steamy sexy times. This was a perfect ARC read for Valentine's weekend. Katie is a strong independent woman. And Noah as a hero was a pleasant surprise. Ex-con's have this stereotypical expectation to be be harsh or hard core, but that's not Noah.
Behind the scenes someone wants to make Noah pay for what he did to Gabe. I had my suspicions midway through the book and so far I was proven partially right. I wonder if the rest of my theory will be proven right in book two? The cliffhanger on this was serious. Kennedy Fox sure knows how to build the suspense and anticipation. I am anxiously waiting for Holding You Close to come out so I can see how the rest of their story unfolds.
