REVIEW

This is my first read in the Martha's Way Series and my first one by Mika Jolie. I was so intrigued by the blurb I knew I needed to read this book. I love when books explore beyond the traditional happily-ever-after ending. Real life has its ups and downs and Blake and Keely Alexander are going through one of those “downs”.

Blake and Keely are still very much in love, however they’re both feeling a ton of tension. It's taking a toll on their relationship. Their tension stems from some lies they’ve told each other as well as fertility struggles. Keely blames herself, and unfortunately doesn’t discuss her emotions with her husband.

On top of that tension, Blake’s rocky relationship with his parents rears it’s head when they unexpectedly show up. Blake is less than thrilled by their appearance. He questions their motives and refuses to believe they have good intentions.

Let me say I thought I knew where the story was going and what would happen, but I was so wrong. I love when an author surprises me. I won't give out any spoilers. I imagine a lot of readers will also be as surprised as I was.

Keely and Blake’s story is such an important story to tell. We all love a good happily-ever-after, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be struggles and/or hardships. As a woman who has been married for almost 14 years I enjoy seeing established couples work through issues and find ways to strengthen their relationship.

Even through I jumped into the series late I can say Mika did a great job with world building and character development. I felt like I had a good picture of their lives up to the point in time where they were currently in the book. The dialogue was easy to read and was believable. My emotions were invested in the journey Blake and Keely took. And yes!! These two were very steamy!
