Book Blurb:
"Girls like you aren't exactly welcomed at a place like this, so keep your head down and look the other way."
Those were the exact words of my social worker when she dropped me in my newest hellhole, a place for "troubled teens".
I didn't listen, and now I'm on their radar.
They expect me to play along in their games of hierarchy, to fall in line in the social order they've deemed me fit.
Too bad for them, I don't follow rules.
Too bad for me, they're determined to make sure I do.
Inconceivably attractive and treated like kings...these are the boys of Brayshaw High.
And I'm the girl who got in their way.

If you're a fan of new adult, enemies-to-lovers, bully romances then the Brayshaw High series is for you.
This book was everything I look for in this genre - an angsty, strong-willed heroine and a no holds barred alphahole that doesn't take any shit. From the first chapter you're sucked into the life of Raven Carver, who is an under-privileged 17 year old living in a trailer with her prostitute mother that has had to learn to stick up for herself due to constant bullying from her classmates. Her latest fight gets her kicked out of her school, moved to another town and placed in the Bray house with other teenage girls about to age out of the system. She hits the ground running at her new school and makes quite the impression with the Brayshaw Boys with a run-in that lets everyone know she is not what they're used to and that she will not follow their rules. She refuses to heed the warning of a well-meaning classmate when told, "You either kneel at their feet or get stomped under them. They'll make sure you're shamed, one way or another."
What follows is a battle of wills neither team is ready for. Maddoc, Royce and Captain do everything they can to retain their elite status while Raven fights them tooth and nail. Little by little, they realize things aren't quite what they seem. Raven starts to realize why the boys behave the way they do and the boy's figure out Raven's motivations. The relationships and unconditional love Maddoc, Captain and Royce share was such a pleasure to read about. "Family runs deeper than blood" is mentioned throughout the book and is something that Raven slowly begins to understand the more she gets to know The Boys. Maddoc and Raven's story is a slow burn that ignites with so much passion after what felt like constant foreplay the entire book.
Be warned, this book does end with a HUGE cliffhanger, but luckily for us, all 3 books of Raven & Maddoc's story are released. Phew!! I don't know how I would've coped or what damage I would've caused to my cell phone had I not been able to jump right into the next book. Although I'd consider myself late to the party, I'm pretty lucky
considering I finished the first 3 books in the series just in time for
book 4, Be My Brayshaw (Captain's book), to be released on June 3rd. Stay tuned for
that review, because I'll have that one posted soon.
