WHEN THE STARS FALL
IS LIVE EARLY!!!
Book Blurb
Growing up, Jude McCallister was the bane of my existence. My best friend. Fiercest ally. The most annoying boy in the world.
At eighteen, the boy I loved to hate became the man I couldn’t live without.
We were young. Madly in love. Invincible.
Strong enough to weather any storm.
Cocky enough to believe that no amount of time or distance could destroy us.
When Jude finally returned home from overseas, it should have been cause for celebration. But the man I’d fallen in love with was gone, and in his place was someone I no longer recognized.
𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛’𝑡 𝑑𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑛𝑜𝑡𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑. 𝐼’𝑚 𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑦.
Now, after six long years he’s back. Only my heart ... it doesn’t beat just for him anymore.
REVIEW
Where do I even begin?? This book. Just take ALL my stars. Five stars aren't even close to being enough. I can't even process how beautifully heartbreaking this story was. So poignant. The good, the bad, and the ugly. From the first scene until the last I was spellbound by Lila Turner and Jude McCallister. Be ready. Let me tell you. The first scene in the prologue slapped me in the face and made sure I was paying close attention. I needed all of the words.
After the prologue, we jump to the past and see them as children meeting for the first time. Emery weaved Lila and Jude's story together in such a way I felt like I actually witnessed them meeting and growing up together. You see their friendship evolve, and their bond strengthen and grow. Until, life gets in the way.
I usually try my best to summarize the books I've read, but each sentence I write I find myself deleting. I really don't think I want to do this here. Any summary will not do their story justice. And Lila and Jude's journey needs to be experienced from an unsuspecting mind. I even tried to be very cautious of the labels I selected.
When The Stars Fall tops my list so far as my favorite book of 2020. Ironically, I am struggling so hard to express myself. This is the hardest review to write. It's crazy. WTSF hooked me with the character development, the dialogue, the emotions, the storyline, the setting, the imagery, the sexual tension, the deeper meaning, the life lessons, and the emotions. Yes. It needed repeating. Lord, did this book make me cry!
As Jude and Lila grew up it became clear how they arrived at the prologue moment. However, do not be lulled into thinking you know what's coming. I thought I knew how things would play out when Jude returned after six years. Let me tell you. I was so wrong! Also, can I get around of applause for the PLOT TWIST! Bravo! I. Was. Blindsided. Completely unprepared.
With that said, I can tell you that Jude and Lila's story will crawl into you and grab you by the heart. These two experienced so much in the approximately twenty years covered in this book. If you can name the emotion, I can practically guarantee they felt it. I felt it. These two worked so hard for their happy ending. What a raw, beautiful story. I can't wait to add this to my paperback collection.
