Wren
Never feel, never fall.
Four words I tell myself to protect my heart from the pain I know all too well.
I learned my lesson the hard way.
Promised myself I’d never allow anyone to hurt me the way she did.
Now I’m falling and I can’t seem to stop it.
He’s dangerous.
I’m broken.
He fills the missing pieces until all I feel is him.
And I’m the sucker stupid enough to let him do it.
Levi
I’ve always wanted what I can’t have.
Family, freedom, love.. him.
I’ve wanted him for as long as I can remember – the broken bad boy with the sad eyes and the tortured heart – but like everything else in my life, it’s not that easy.
His past will tear us apart.
My lies will break us beyond repair.
This love will send us both to an early grave.
Ask me if I give a damn.
Wren Kingston is mine.
And it’s about time he knows it.
Review
I’m so happy I had the opportunity to read an ARC of both books in The Kingston Brothers because they’re sooooo good! I always get nervous when I apply for new or even just new to me author’s books. I HATE leaving low star reviews. As I was reading these books I kept asking myself how it was possible that these were the first and second books written by Bethany Winters. I was blown away! They were so well written that she brought the characters to life on the pages. So much so that I feel like I know them all personally now.
As much as I loved The Kings at Westbrook High, I loved Reckless even more. I’m obsessed with Levi & Wren’s story. Their book had everything I look for- tons of steam, strong characters, darkness and bad guys getting what they deserve. Keep in mind there are definitely some triggers in this book. I can’t go into what those triggers are because it’s a spoiler, but feel free to reach out to Bethany via social media if you have concerns about going in blind. Because of the storyline, you definitely have to read these in order. Even though each ends in a HEA, there’s some issues that overlap in both books.
Levi has not had an easy life and for reasons I can’t go into, Wren also has some issues preventing him from giving into his attraction to Levi. Their back and forth & push and pull was so much fun to read about. I loved their friendship and loved watching it turn into love even more. Seeing how he was accepted into their little family (even more so than when he was just a friend) was so beautiful because Damon, Kai and Callie never hesitated in showing their support no matter what gender the person Wren was falling in love with was.
When the truth all came out and everything that was hidden was revealed it was epic! Everything wrapped up nicely. Plus, there’s a few scenes that kind of give you a hint at what is coming with Kai’s book (and if my theory is correct there was even a clue or two in book 1). I’m so exited for it! I’m completely in love with the Kingston family and cannot wait for another look into their lives with the third installment. Hopefully it’s coming soon!
