As to be expected I was absolutely captivated by this world A.L. Jackson created. The writing is just spellbinding. She paints such beautiful pictures of the characters and everything that takes place. The story shines. It's so hard to explain unless you've experienced her writing.
Each time I read an A.L. Jackson book I'm left thinking, "Okay, this hero is my favorite." I'm convincde at that point, you know? It will be hard to surpass this perfection. And yet... Trent. Lawson. Bravo! This man is a force all on his own. He's a dark, dangerous, tattooed biker and bar owner. Eden Murphy is his polar opposite. They're immediately drawn to each other, although they have more of an enemy vibe that is hard to surpass.
Eden starts working at Trent's bar, Absolution, against his better judgment. Not long thereafter Trent shows up at the school where Eden works to pick up his son, Gage. She's his son's teacher. The plot thickens. Gage is the icing on the cake in this book. He enhances the emotions. And the emotions in this book were so thick and palpable.
Trent is raising his son with the help of his brothers, Jud and Logan. Trent has a dark past that may or not be coming back to haunt him. Can he escape the darkness and live in the light? Eden works as a teacher at her father's school. Her sister stole money from him and now he may lose the school. Eden refuses to let that happen. Will she succeed or will her father lose everything? Although they fight it, Trent and Eden are drawn together. Entwined and they can't fight it.
This book is a must read. I admit I shed a few tears, my heart swelled with joy, and I definitely laughed out loud. The moments with Gage are so realistic and touching. And as a parent I can relate to some of the moments that take place throughout the book. These characters are truly special.
